Carrie Underwood‘s latest single “See You Again” has taken on new meaning since her home state’s devastating tornado last month. It only seems appropriate for her to pay homage in in her new music video (watch it below) for a song she has described as having a positive spin on death.

The fourth single off her album Blown Away, Underwood said she originally wrote “See You Again” for the film The Chronicles of Narnia with friends Hillary Lindsey and David Hodges. The track wasn’t selected to be featured in the film, but she loved it so much she wanted to put it on her next album.

“It takes a positive spin on moving on out of this life, on death,” she said in a promotional video about the song.

The music video for “See You Again” visualizes this same idea. A poignant video, it acts as a collage of major life moments: graduating from college, getting engaged, having kids, and the ultimate end in death. In between each vignette, soldiers going off to war and coming back to surprise their family members are displayed, as is devastating footage from Moore, Oklahoma and the tragic Newtown, Connecticut shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
